“There is no God.”
“Well, you don’t know that for sure-“
“Bernard, as an AI connected to every philo-science document, every parabyte of knowledge in the Human Empire, every logic string going back to the days of the Past Colonists... I can assure you, there is no God. It has been proven.”
Bernard sighed. His helmet visor fogged up then disappeared.
“I’m not going to bother arguing with you. Soon that golden gate is going to open, and I will walk into the Kingdom of Heaven. That should be enough proof.”
The gate in question was a smooth sphere of gold, slowly rotating on an equa

Zomberella
There are six clumps of my dirty blonde hair left. I sit in front of my vanity, tying different colored bows at the base of each one. I dyed the tips of them my favorite color a while ago -- hotter than hell pink -- so people know I mean business. When I'm done with that, I pinch my cheeks, make kissy faces in the mirror. I'm looking a little dull, I finally decide. I reach below the vanity and pull out my secret weapon: a tub of Crisco. I dig my fingers into the thick white goop and start smearing it on my face. When that's done, I roll a little margarine under my pits and give myself an approving wink with my good eye in the mirror before g

I eat only because my body demands it.
In the South pregnant mothers eat red dirt
because it gives them what they crave. Their bellies are full moons,
their eyes constellations of what their baby will be.
Forget tossed stones or chicken entrails,
the lines of a palm already scarred
by machinery bits, a barbed wire chicken fence.
I already know what my future will be.
I was given paradise but it did not want me.
They told me if you are not strong enough this paradise will scar you
and it has. I was meant to be pregnant at the age of 16

But I escaped, relentless, demanding. "Do not g

This is an attempt at a crossover between b-movie style body-shock horror and American soaps, or living-room dramas.
It's a kind of love-letter to American suburban culture as portrayed in media, not to mention the US' contribution to the horror/humor genre.
It's supposed to be darkly, dryly funny as well as creepy and a little nauseating.
I've done my best (as a Brit) to write using American terminology, language and spellings, though there may be Britishisms.
Please enjoy!

Ok, first off, you did an amazing job of capturing American speech patterns and even thought processes. At the same time it was great to see Jim trying to fit into American culture and it makes him a great character you can like pretty much immediately.
Now, for the story. That was creepy as all hell, but in a funny and even an almost cute way, and I love how you managed to keep me guessing at how it would turn out until the last few sentences. For a minute at the end I was a little worried she would have to kill him to protect herself, but it's even better that he accepts her and the baby. So yes, while it creeped me out completely, it also got me right in the feels and made me all happy inside Definitely a
