Impostor

On the Pollocked dirt,

wearing a dowdy coat, like a bad joke

I cannot hide my legs.

My naked legs.

My scaly, naked legs.

with clawed feet for killing the corn,

like tusks on a rabbit.



I am a trick-bastard

fallen flightless out of Darwin's tree,

I escaped the Garden

with serpent legs intact.

I hid from God in feathers

under ugly feathered flippers,

a lizard. In drag.
